Malware Attacks: U.S. By Far the Most Targeted

The U.S. faced more than 5.1 billion malware attacks in 2018, which is nearly 50 percent of the 10.52 billion total malware attacks SonicWall recorded worldwide. Theft of cryptocurrency from exchanges and infrastructure climbed to $950 million in 2018 at an 84% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2016. More than three-and-a-half times more cryptocurrency was stolen from exchanges in 2018 than in 2017.
