Connected Devices Projected to Grow at 22% CAGR Between 2016–2020

The number of connected devices held relatively steady between 1992 and 2002. With the inception of the Internet of Things (IoT) in approximately 2009, however, that number has spiked. Cisco predicts the number of global internet-connected devices will more than double between 2016–17 (22.9 billion devices predicted) and 2020 (50.1 billion devices predicted), largely due to the emergence of IoT.
