Ransomware Impacted Half of European Countries in 2016

Attackers use ransomware to encrypt an organization’s critical data and demand payment in the form of Bitcoin. In 2016, nearly half (49 percent) of European companies reported being impacted by ransomware, while 39 percent of organizations in the Asia-Pacific region were hit and 35 percent in North America.
