40% of 2016 Breaches Impacted Financial Services, Health Care Organizations

Last year, 66 percent of data breaches affected four industries: financial services, health care, retail and accommodation, and the public sector, according to the 2017 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR). Financial services experienced 24 percent of 2016 breaches, health care and retail/accommodation each experienced 15 percent, and 12 percent of data breaches impacted public-sector entities.
