2017 Breach Costs by Country (5 slides)

The global average total cost of a data breach in decreased from $4 million to $3.62 million in 2017. A strong U.S. dollar significantly influenced the global cost analysis and contributed to the decline in the cost. Still, the U.S. remained well above the global average at $7.35 million for the cost of a data breach. Further, U.S. companies spend approximately five times the world average on breach notification costs, which include engagement with outside experts and determination of regulatory requirements.
