CIOs Most Likely to Report to Board on Cybersecurity at Public Companies

The vast majority of public-company directors surveyed by NACD said the CIO is the individual who reports to the Board of Directors on cybersecurity matters. At 38 percent of public companies, the Head of Internal Audit reports to the Board on cybersecurity, while the CEO reports to the Board on cybersecurity at 37 percent of public companies. The CISO is responsible for reporting on cybersecurity to the Board at 31 percent of public companies.
