‘Rootnik’ the Most Active Android Malware Family in 2017

When examining the top Android malware families since the beginning of 2017, Rootnik has been the most active family with 42% of all malware seen by SophosLabs. Many apps on Google Play were found to contain Rootnik, which was also seen exploiting the DirtyCow Linux vulnerability in late September 2017.
