Firmware, which is hard-coded software frequently stored in ROM, is an increasingly attractive target for attackers. Unfortunately, 70 percent of enterprises that do not emphasize security as part of their hardware lifecycle management say they feel unprepared for a firmware-related attack. Further, 50 percent of organizations that do prioritize security within their hardware lifecycle management reported at least one incident of malware-infected firmware in 2016.
