Social Media Attacks Increased by 20% Between 2010–2016

As the number of data breaches continues to increase, so too does the percentage of breaches that stem from social media attacks. The percentage of breaches attributed to social media attacks has risen from approximately 11 percent in 2010 to approximately 34 percent in 2016. With this increase, social media is now the third most frequent threat action category, behind hacking and malware.
